Support literacy with a donation to the Words in the Wild Foundation

Grow our Teaching Fellowship

Support our Teaching Fellowship — one of the most unique aspects of our organization — with a donation to our Foundation.

The teaching fellowship:

  • strengthens the teacher pipeline

  • assists new and veteran teachers with skills and knowledge that help to reduce burnout and teacher turnover

  • teaches educators how to effectively teach reading

Fellows gain so much from this experience. Over the course of this one to two year experience, they get:

  • paid for their time both teaching and learning

  • weekly meetings for support and professional development

  • hands-on experience in classrooms, small group reading intervention, and one-to-one tutoring

  • coaching and assistance from Dr. Filippini to hone their skills and confidence

  • additional instruction in neurodiversity

  • to learn how to incorporate nature-based instruction anywhere and at any time

This Fellowship is needed now more than ever, as we all grapple with ways to better support our teachers, our students and our districts.

With your support, our goal is to increase from three to five Fellows in 2025.

This ambitious goal will allow us to:

  • continue providing this vital support to teachers

  • allow for in-service Fellows who will be working in their own classroom while receiving Words in the Wild support to deepen their expertise in the science of reading, neurodiversity, and nature-based engagement

Being a Teaching Fellow for Words in the Wild has given me the unique opportunity to practice educational therapy and learn valuable skills that I wouldn’t have the chance to learn elsewhere. I have gained so many skills, experiences, and knowledge about teaching and I love this organization with my whole heart!
— Ella Holton-McCoy, Teaching Fellowship Graduate
